Kunye Massage & External Therapies program offered in 3 levels is composed of foundational studies in Tibetan Medicine, in-depth Tibetan Kunye massage study and practice and study and practice of Tibetan external therapies including cupping, hot stones, compresses, medicinal oils, mild moxibustion, medicinal baths and other treatments. Participants who complete this program are certified as a Tibetan Kunye Massage and External Therapies Practitioner.

Who is Menpa Phuntsog Wangmo?

Doctor Phuntsog Wangmo is a practitioner of Traditional Tibetan Medicine, with over 30 years of experience in clinical practice as well as teaching.

She received her advanced degree from the Lhasa University School of Traditional Medicine. She teaches Tibetan Medicine around the world, developing programs and teaching students in the USA, Spain, Italy, Russia, and many other countries.

WHY STUDY KUNYE & EXTERNAL THERAPIES? 

 

Kunye is the ancient form of massage therapy taught in Traditional Tibetan Medicine. It is an effective, dynamic healing art very effective for alleviating the pathologies of the nervous system and mental disturbances. The effect is one of a deep relaxation allowing the system to restore and rebalance in order to maintain a good health and a state of well-being. 

Presented in the classical texts of Tibetan Medicine, Kunye & External Therapies have been transcribed and formally taught for many centuries. The Kunye & External Therapies training course is the primary entry point for Traditional Tibetan Medicine training in the West.

Finalizing the educational path the students will receive a certificate from the International AtiYoga Foundation and Shang Shung School of Tibetan Medicine. In order to be able to work as a Massage Therapist they must check in their own countries what are the regulations and the legal-specific requirements.

Discover the huge potentiality of the external therapies of Tibetan Medicine. The aim of Kunye Therapy is to help balance the systems of the body (especially the nervous system), to relax tensions, and revitalize the energy. For many centuries, Kunye massage has been applied to relieve muscular and joint pain, mobilize the joints and reduce stiffness.

FORMAT

  • Our program consists of 3 levels
  • Every level includes intensive practice sessions to be done ONSITE in Dzamling Gar (Tenerife South)
  • Every level includes theory that will be available ONLINE for one year on an educational platform.
  • To complete the 3 levels you will need at least 100 hrs of personal practice

Full Program

Level I Course Content

Theory:

  • The Five Elements of the body
  • The causes of diseases
  • The purpose of Kunye massage
  • How to perform the massage The benefits, effects, contraindications
  • You will learn about the location of the points of Lung, Tripa, Badkan

Practice:

  • Oil application
  • Learn how to practically perform of all the basic massage techniques
  • You will practically learn how to massage various parts of the body: back, head, neck, arms, legs, neck, head points
  • You will learn how to do a full Kunye practice

Level II Course Content

Theory:

  • The points from Gyu-shi and the health benefits
  • Points of Rlung, Tripa and Bad kan, points of hollow and dense organs, points of nerves, joints and muscles
  • Muscular anatomy of the neck, back, buttock, hands and feet

Practice:

  • Identifying The points from Gyu-shi
  • Discover the points of Rlung, Tripa and Bad kan, points of hollow and dense organs, points of nerves, joints and muscles
  • Explore nerves and joints of the neck, back, waist, hips, knees, ankles, shoulder, elbow and wrist
  • Deepening the massage techniques for the different joints: ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, neck, elbow and wrist

Level III Course Content

Practice: the external therapies of Traditional Tibetan Medicine

  • Hot and cold compresses: method of application, benefits and contraindications
  • Stone Compresses, salt, barley and herbs
  • Khorme: hot oil compresses
  • Moxibustion: method of application, benefits and contraindications
  • Cupping: application method, benefits and contraindications
  • Medicinal baths, foot baths and steam baths: method of application, benefits and contraindications.

Important Information

There are no specific conditions required for the training and no previous experience is required. Nevertheless, our professional training is for people seriously interested in the authentic healing system that is rooted in ancient knowledge,  to maintain the balance of body and mind through massage and external therapies according to Traditional Tibetan Medicine.

Upon completion of the three level training, the students will receive a certificate from the International Atiyoga Foundation and Shang Shung School of Tibetan Medicine. In order to be able to work as massage therapists, they must check in their own countries what the regulations and the legal specific requirements are.

Materials

Students are advised to bring their own sheets and towels. In the event that this is not possible, the school can provide them at an additional cost. Detailed information will be sent to students before the course begins.

Cancellation And Refund Policy

If you cancel the course booking within 14 calendar days of receiving your confirmation and before the start of the course without giving any reason, you are entitled to a full refund of the price paid minus bank fees (from 5% to 10%, depending on your country).

The cancellation period will expire 14 days after the date of the payment transaction. In that case you will be entitled to a refund of the price minus 20%.

We will make the reimbursement within 5-10 working days depending on your financial institution.
